We are born to work. We must achieve something great in a limited time. This is our duty - a duty that every man or woman should bear. But what should we do in order to achieve success. If you want to be successful in your work, you must take this rule: one thing at a time. Indeed, this is a rule for anybody to follow. Some people are too ambitious. They want to do this and they want to do that. They want to do many things at one time, with the result that they accomplish nothing at all. Others are too idle. They do not know the value of time and they always put off until tomorrow what they should do today. They often say that they will do something by and by. In fact, they never do it. Neither of these two classes of people can ever succeeded in any sense of the word. So let us do one thing at a time, if we want to succeed in our work.
Many successful men say that they owe much of their prosperity to the cultivation of good habits in early life. Here are some rules that are helpful in forming a good life. Here are some rules that are helpful in forming good habits.
Honesty - "Honesty is the best policy" is a proverb to which we cannot well conform. There are so many temptations in the society that through a little carelessness we are led astray.
Industry - every man, every woman, every boy and every girl, must have proper work to do. To do nothing and lie idle is to bring ruins upon oneself.
Enthusiasm - Enthusiasm is the basic element on the to succeed. The difficulties in our way are tremendous, and what can we accomplish, if we donít do it with enthusiasm?
Thrift - There are many proverbs which set forth the advantages of thrift. We should never impair any thing that is useful. Besides, we should always strive to save a portion of our earnings for "rainy days".
No great work can be performed and no high position can be attained without toil and effort. We envy famous men and imagine their histories; we find that it is long years of patient toil and constant effort that have brought about their success. Just as we cannot reach the top of a mountain without climbing, we cannot achieve success with effort and hard work. A strong will is a importance to make our careers more successful, we must first insist to be successful before we take up the work. The secret of the success of great men is that while often people were idling, they were climbing.
