Lung Cancer

The name of this disorder is lung cancer. There are a few causes of lung cancer; smoking is a major cause of lung cancer. In fact smoking cigarettes is responsible for at least ninety percent of the cases of lung cancer. A small percentage of lung cancer is related to occupational hazards like abestos, radiation and various chemicals. Some research shows that people who live in polluted cities may be at a higher risk of getting lung cancer than people who do not, although the increase was found only among smokers.

Some early symptoms of lung cancer are coughing, loss of appetite and weight loss. Although some symptoms are similar to the symptoms of many long-term smokers have anyway. Some of the more serious symptoms of lung cancer are blood in the sputum, repeated pneumonia, fever, weight loss, and weakness.

If someone gets lung cancer and if it is detected in the early stages it is possible be cured. But since there is no known cure for lung cancer yet, and if it is detected too late then it most likely to be fatal. In some cases the cancer will go away but will return and you will be affected with it for your whole life, battling it off and on.

Based on a study by Dr. Cuyler Hammond research shows that deaths from lung cancer increase progressively with the number of cigarettes smoked (mortality ratios). 1 of smokers are affected by lung cancer, people who smoke less the ten cigarettes per day-4.6. 10-19 cigarettes per day-8.62. 20-39 cigarettes per day-14.69. 40 or more cigarettes pre day-18.77. Cigarette smoking is the major cause of lung cancer. So if you want to cut the risk of lung cancer do not smoke.

Although there is no known cure for lung cancer there are some things you can do to help get rid of it if it is caught in the early stages. There are three basic treatments for lung cancer: surgery, chemotherapy, and radiationtheropy, although only five to ten percent of lung cancer patients are alive and well after treatment. There are some things you can do to help prevent lung cancer like, eat lots of dark green, deep yellow and orange fruits and vegetables. There's evidence that betacarontene in them can help reduce the risk of cancer. The prevention of lung cancer is more important than is the prospect of cure.
