My term paper will be on women's rights. I will look at why people have positive or negative feelings towards rights for women. There are many hypotheses as to why people would feel positive or negative towards women's rights. Factors include economic, sociological, psychological, and political variables.
Economically, income could effect the way a person feels towards rights for women. The higher the income, the less likely they will feel positive towards women's rights. People with a high income may be against more rights for women because they may have a more capitalistic view about issues. They may be less opposed to governmental institutions, such as, affirmative action, which will set quotas for underrepresented people in the work place.
Many sociological factors may effect how a person feels towards women's rights. Gender will effect the way a person feels. Males will feel more negative towards women's rights. Religion will effect the way a person feels towards women's rights. The more religious a person is the less likely they will feel positive towards women's rights. Age may effect feelings towards women's rights. The younger a person is the more positive they will feel towards rights for women. Older people may already be set in their ways and unwilling to change. Race could effect the way a person feels towards rights for women. The culture may have an imprint on the way one feels towards women.
Psychology will effect the way an individual feels towards women's rights. How close a person feels towards women will effect how they feel towards rights for women. The closer they feel towards women the more in favor of women's rights they will be.
Politics will effect how a person feels towards women's rights. Party affiliation will determine how a person feels towards women's rights. Also, the type of groups a person belongs to will effect they way they feel towards women's rights. For instance if they belong to a women's group they may be more in favor of women's rights.
