FINAL ESSAY: DRAMA

Morningstar

My job as a peer tutor is to help evaluate and grade students\' class work, performances, projects, assignments, and papers. I am asked to prepare and deliver two of my own drama lessons to grade eleven students on topics such as acting techniques, props, stage makeup, and art history. I chose to make puppets and explain the history of puppets. I am to help the students who seem to need it the most, and guide the students through the activities and classroom discussions. It is also important that I set a good example for the students.Interpersonal Relationships with the students are good to have. When I first entered this class, everyone was very timid except for the outgoing few. Now, I have great relationships with the students in this class. I took one student down to the library to help him raise his mark, and he did the work, so his mark went up. I felt great. After it was said that I helped him raise his mark, I was asked by several others if I could help them too. This has really helped me realize that I can help others, and it feels great. My interpersonal relationships with these students has really approved since the beginning of the semester.

There are a lot of skills required for peer tutoring. Instructing; Teaching others how to do something. Speaking; Talking to others to convey information effectively. Reading Comprehension; Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Learning Strategies; Selecting and using certain methods for the appropriate situation when learning or teaching new things. Writing; Writing for the appropriate audience, and meeting their needs. Active Learning; Understanding new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Critical Thinking; Using logic to identify the strengths and weaknesses of other solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Complex Problem Solving; Identifying difficult problems and reviewing information to develop and evaluate solutions. Monitoring; Monitoring/Assessing performance of myself, and other individuals, to make improvements or changes.
Active Listening; Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. The final skill you need to succeed as a peer tutor is to Set an Example; Be there for the individuals on a professional and personal level, and show them how you are supposed to act, in a mature manor.

There is a lot of Knowledge required for peer tutoring as well. You need knowledge of the theory and techniques required to compose, produce, and perform works of music, dance, visual arts, drama, and tableaux. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, and teaching/instruction for individuals and groups. And you also need the knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

The abilities required for drama are; The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others can understand. The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand. The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you. The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to come up with a number of ideas about a topic (the number of ideas is important, not their quality, correctness, or creativity). And last but not least the great ability to come up with unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem.

When you are peer tutoring, you should be able to identify what it is that the students need and be their coach, or mentor in order to help them improve their knowledge and their skills. Also, communicating with people outside the classroom is a great idea as well. It will help them get to know and trust in you more which makes it easier to help them along the way. This way, you both feel comfortable in all situations while developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with them, and maintaining them over the entire semester. This semester, that is exactly what I had
