Astrology is one of those subjects thay is easy to learn, but can take a lifetime to master. Most people are familiar with the most basic aspect of Astrology, their Star Sign, and can usually name at least one common trait of their Sign. Star Signs are made popular in newspapers, magazines, and other media. Many people think that Star Signs are all there is to Astrology, but there is a lot more to Astrology than the Sunís position alone.
Astrology has been studied for thousands of years and it dates back as far as recorded history. The original Astrologers were priests and scholars. According to modern belief, the Three Wise Men in the Bible were Astrologers.
In ancient times, the Greeks and Romans based their system of gods on what they believed was up in the sky. Zeus and the other gods and goddesses were based on the planets that were visible to the people of that time. Astrology was also popular in Babylon, Egypt, the Middle East, and China.
Modern Astrology has changed as new planets have been discovered. Astrology is about the interaction between the planets, including the Sun and the Moon, and the Star Signs. It studies the mathmatical cycles on which these interactions are based.
In some ways, the forces between the planets involved in Astrology can be simplified into one word : gravity. The Sun has the greatest gravity and, therefore, the strongest affect on Astrology, followed by the Moon and the other planets.
Astrology can be best understood as a philosophy that helpsd to explain life, rather than simply a tool used to predict oneís future or fate. Each of the twelve Star Signs is a unique combination of one of the four Elements (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water) and one of the three Qualities (Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable). Each of these Elements and Qualities demonstrate that we are all part of the environment and that there is a connection between all living things on this planet. Astrology ties all humans together. We are all faced with the same planetary interactions and we are all part of the same cycles.
But despite all these connections, Astrology does not tie you into being a certain way and it does not predict everything about you. Astrology simply explains the energy in your life and itís potential challenges and possibilities. What you learn from Astrology can help you make choices between free will and destiny.
There are many different catagories of Astrology. Medical, Business, and Stock Market Astrology are often practiced for health or financial reasons. Weather Astrology is also popular in some areas. Mundane Astrology is the study of politics and world events. Electional Astrology helps people find the best times to get married, start a business, or get a new job. Horary Astrology is predictive, studying questoins based on the exact moment they arise. But the most popular type of Astrology is Natal Astrology, which analyzes people based on their time and place of birth.
Astrology is about you. It is not an obscure science meant only to be understood by a select few. Rather it is a tool for greater self understanding. It allows you to move through life with a clearer perspective on your experiences and those of the people around you.
