Bacteria can help and harm humans in the world today. The agricultural industry depends on the existence of bacteria that can transform the nitrogen gas from the atmosphere into ammonia in the soil that plants can use in a process called nitrogen fixation.Bacteria are good for recycling because they feed on dying material and convert it back into basic substances.Without decomposition the food chain would cease.Bacteria also helps in the breakdown on rocks which influences the movement of key elements, such as,sulfur, iron, phosphorus, and carbon, around the world.Bacteria are the main digesters of cellulose within cows and other animals.Bacteria are used in the making of dairy products.Without bacteria the dairy industry would not exist.Bacteria are also helpful in sewage treatment. These certain bacterias convert the organic materials of sewage into carbon dioxide, methane, and hydrogen gases.Bacteria is involved in nearly every familiar product.Bacteria can digest petroleum and oil-spill cleanups.Although many eubacteria are disease causing organisms most are harmless or even beneficial. Most of bacteria found in soil, water, and air are eubacteria.Eubacteria produce many of the antibiotics used in medicine.
Bacteria can also be harmful. Some bacteria cause diseases such as Tuberculosis,Gonorrhea,Typhoid fever,Lyme disease,Gangrene, and Endocarditis. Some of these diseases are fatal.Bacteria can also cause skin diseases such as Dermatitis,Leprosy, and Carbuncle. Some bacterial diseases can be controlled by antibiotics. Some of these are Penicillins,Cephalosporin, Aminoglycosides,Tetracyclines,Macrolides, and Sulfonamides.Though over the years some bacterias have evolved and become immune to antibiotics making them unstoppable.Bacteria can also pollute water, decay teeth, and can poison food.
I think that bacteria just about evens out on my good/bad scale.
