There are all kinds of people in the world, and we all have different opinions. In this report I am discussing abortion. You will read about the pro’s and con’s of this subject. Some people think that abortion is wrong, they think that abortion is the killing of innocent children. Other people believe that the unborn child is not actually a human until it takes their first breath of air.
Many people think that having an abortion is murder. Many of the people that oppose abortion are in the minority . There are several anti-abortion groups, one organization is called the “Right to Life”, The members of the “Right to Life” organization believe that a fetus is a person. Many anti-abortionists feel that abortion promotes sexual activity by making it easy to
get rid of an unwanted pregnancy. They feel that it is wrong to have premarital sex. These people feel that every child is wanted by someone. They view adoption as a logical alternative.
Researchers have said that if you give the woman the unrestricted right to kill her unborn daughter, one had better be prepared to some day give the daughter the unrestricted right to kill the aged mother.
Many people that are against abortions are raised in the church or are religious. They believe that abortion is murder, and that God does not approve of this. There is a book called “The Hand of God“, written by Dr. Bernard Nathanson, one of the doctors that was instrumental in getting legislation for abortion passed in the 1960’s. Dr. Nathanson is now an ex-abortion doctor, who actually performed an abortion on his own child and felt no remorse. He himself states that he performed thousands of abortions in his career and supervised thousands more. He states in the book that a lot of the statistics that were used initially to assist with the passing of abortion were exaggerated in
order to get the laws passed. In the book he tells of how he asked another doctor friend of his to video the abortions the performed using the new
ultrasound equipment that had just become available and that he had just received. His friend worked at a clinic on the weekends and performed about
40 abortions a day for cash. They sat down and watched all of the ultra sounds the next day and were horrified as they saw the babies’ arms, legs, fingers and toes, head and neck, and internal organs sucked out. They watch as the skull
was crushed in order to be removed. Up until the time of ultra sound no one had ever seen inside the womb, and had no idea how fetus’ acted and reacted.
There was one abortion that stuck in both of the doctors’ minds’ for ever, and later became the movie “The Silent Cry”. As they watched the fetus’ body parts being torn off, this particular baby opened up his mouth and looked as if it was a crying and attempted to move away from the instruments. Both of the doctors felt that the child was reacting to the pain and looked as if he were crying, but
since there is no air in the womb, no air could be emitted therefore there was no sound. Neither doctor ever performed another abortion. Dr. Nathanson was so affected by the video that he became a political advocate of anti-abortion laws.
According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, the vast majority of women give the following reasons for having an abortion: they do not want to change their lifestyle, they feel they can not afford to have a baby, or they feel that they
have problems in their relationship. Only one percent of women say that they are victims of rape or incest. Most people think that these are lame excuses, and totally un-called for. Women that have abortions that say that their relationship just isn’t right, that is a way of covering up the evidence that there is or was a problem.
Secondly, the people who do believe in abortions, believe that the fetus is not actually a person. People supporting a woman’s right to choose view abortion in this way. The majority of the “choice” supporters are in the middle of the spectrum. They support legal
